Who this applies to
This Code applies to all officials, referees, venue managers, staff and volunteers who have contact with Junior Futsal participants (under 18) during the season. A current Working with Children Check (WWCC) is required for anyone in this role and must be verified by Social Sport before they commence.
Our commitment
Social Sport has zero tolerance for child abuse of any kind. We take all reasonable steps to protect children from harm, and treat any complaint, disclosure or concern about a child's safety seriously and promptly.
Expected behaviour
Everyone covered by this Code must:
• Treat all junior participants with respect, patience and fairness, regardless of ability, background, gender or culture.
• Act as a positive role model in language, sportsmanship and conduct on and off the court.
• Maintain appropriate supervision ratios for the age group.
• Communicate with junior participants only in ways that are open and visible to another adult.
• Report any concern about a child's safety or well-being.
Behaviour that is not acceptable
Anyone covered by this Code must not:
• Be alone with a junior participant without another adult present or in view, including in change rooms, cars, or after-hours.
• Use any form of discipline involving physical punishment or humiliation.
• Contact junior participants privately via personal social media, text, or messaging apps.
• Photograph or film a junior participant outside official Social Sport activities, or share images of minors other than through approved channels (see Terms and Conditions, Section 8).
• Give a junior participant alcohol, drugs, or other age-restricted items.
• Ignore, dismiss, or fail to report a concern, disclosure or allegation relating to a child's safety.
Raising a concern
Anyone — staff, volunteers, parents, guardians, or participants themselves — can raise a concern at any time by emailing [email protected] or speaking directly with a Venue Manager, who will escalate it. Concerns are treated seriously and confidentially, and where there's a risk of harm to a child, Social Sport will act in line with its legal obligations, which may include notifying parents/guardians or relevant authorities.
A breach of this Code may result in removal from any role involving contact with junior participants and may be reported to relevant authorities where required.
