What is Pickleball?

Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong. It is played with a paddle and a perforated plastic ball on a court similar to a badminton court.

How many players are in a Social Sport Pickleball team?

It varies based on the format of the league. We play two formats: Doubles and QuadPickle. These need 2 and 4 players respectively. Doubles does allow 1 extra player and QuadPickle up to 2 extra players that can be part of a team and interchange during the match.

What do I need to bring? Does Social Sport provide all the equipment?

Social Sport provides all playing equipment; including paddles and balls. Simply wear sporting attire, arrive at your scheduled game time and have fun!

What are the basic rules of Pickleball?

Is Pickleball suitable for anyone?

Yes! Pickleball is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and abilities. Our social team leagues are most suitable for Beginner and Intermediate level players.

What type of competitions does Social Sport offer?

We offer Womens, Mixed and Mens competitions in both evenings and daytime. Check the Pickleball page for what your closest venue offers.


Do the competitions have a referee?
No, our competitions are social and like most social racquet sports, games are self-officiated. Players are to ‘call the lines’ as honestly and fairly as they can.

Is Pickleball played indoors or outdoors?

We offer competitions from premium indoor and outdoor facilities around Melbourne.
